Our Team
Emma Mary Hall
writes and performs theatre, mainly her own work. She has written and toured three solo works (We May Have to Choose, Ode to Man (Playlab) and World Problems (Currency Press)). She has also directed works at La Mama Theatre in Melbourne and co-devised productions with the Victorian College of the Arts (Show Cat!Sleep Faster!, 2020) and Federation University (After Joan, 2024). Emma has managed the Rat Lab at Arts Incubator since its inception, first on her own and since 2024 as co-manager with Dr Reid.
Chantal Amber
is a queer neurodivergent actor passionate about creating new work and collaborating with other artists. Chantal has a Bachelor of Acting for Stage and Screen from Federation University’s Arts Academy. In 2021, they helped found theatre ensemble The Story Keepers, creating imaginative, energetic theatre for families across 4 successful Melbourne seasons so far, performing at La Mama (2022 + 2023), Bluestone Church Arts Space (2024) and the State Library of Victoria (2025). Chantal is the Bookings and Administration lead at the Rat Lab.
Dr Robert Reid
is a Ballarat based freelance playwright, director, game designer, critic and academic. They were Artistic Director and founder of the independent theatre company Theatre in Decay and the Australian live games company Pop Up Playground. Dr Reid’s plays, “The Joy of Text” and “On The Production of Monsters”, were produced by Melbourne Theatre Company in 2011 and 2012 respectively. They were also a co-founder and co-editor of Witness Performance with Alison Croggon. Their most recent production was “Between Us, Ballarat” for the 2025 Ballarat Heritage Festival.
Elena Sabelico
brings more than 25 years of experience in Drama and English education across Victorian state and independent schools. As Chair of Faculty – Performing Arts at Ballarat Grammar, she combines her expertise in theatre-making, performance, and interest in writing with a deep commitment to fostering student creativity. Elena is focused on positioning Ballarat as a leading hub for innovative theatre and cultivating the next generation of audiences.
